Summer Arts Camp presents Kids in the Kitchen

A new program was introduced to the 2013 Summer Arts Camp series: Kids in the Kitchen. Honeywell House executive chef David Ericsson taught young chefs how to prepare a different course each day. By the end of the week, campers were able to prepare a full meal… including dessert (of course!)

Junie B. Jones live on stage

Thousands of students attended two sold out musicals featuring the popular book character Junie B. Jones. Bus-in theater shows are made possible by the many generous sponsors and donors of our Educational Outreach Program.

Educational Outreach presents musical group from Pakistan

Special guests from Pakistan visited area schools as part of the Honeywell Center's Educational Outreach program in late 2012. The musical group entertained students while educating them on Pakistani culture. The interactive presentations were offered to schools at no charge, thanks to the generous support of people like you!

2012 Holiday Street Banner Contest

Hundreds of families attended receptions honoring the 2012 Holiday Street Banner Contest winners and participants. The Honeywell Center hosts this annual exhibit featuring original artwork by students in Wabash and Miami counties. Some artwork is chosen to become festival holiday banners used to decorate downtown Wabash, Peru, and North Manchester light poles. PIctured are winners from the Miami County Reception.

Musician Michael Kelsey Visits Area Schools

Honeywell Center Educational Outreach presented interactive classroom residencies featuring musician Michael Kelsey. Michael visited nine schools and used engaging tunes and audience participation to help students understand the power and emotion of music. Educational Outreach offers these programs to schools at no charge.

Artist Bruce Langdon visits area schools
Contemporary artist and children's book illustrator Bruce Langton visited area schools as part of the Honeywell Center's Educational Outreach Program. Langton's workshop included a slideshow presentation about his career and a hands-on drawing project for the students to create.

Kevin Stonerock engaged students with a presentation as a frontiersman of the Indiana Territory. He shared stories and experiences of frontier life prior to the War of 1812 as part of the Honeywell Center's Educational Outreach Program.

A Gingerbread Christmas – a free holiday festival for kids!

Our annual kids holiday festival had a gingerbread theme this year. Young guests enjoyed making gingerbread crafts and trail mix, listened to Christmas stories and had their pictures taken with Santa.

Comedian, author, TV and movie star Bill Cosby walked on stage and proceeded to bring a recently engaged couple on stage to hilariously relive the proposal! He brought down the house with numerous stories relating to his everyday life.

Golden Rollers Weekly Senior Skating Begins

The Senior Outreach Program began offering free skating for seniors every Tuesday. Complimentary coffee and treats are available for those interested in skating, playing cards, dancing, or just visiting with others.

Battle of the Bands

The Honeywell Center theater interns produced the first-ever Battle of the Bands in early May.  The interns produced and promoted the event entirely on their own, including organizing the event, lighting design, running sound boards, and marketing. Four bands competed with Small Town taking home the title.

Biscuit the Dog to the Center

Biscuit the Dog sprang from the pages of well- loved books and into the Honeywell Center!  The Wabash Carnegie Library brought Biscuit in to visit with boys and girls.  The kids were also treated to a puppet show and other activities.

Banner reception honors student art winners

Hundreds of students and parents gathered in the for a reception to honor the entrants in the 2009 Banner Contest.  Young artists submitted original artwork, with several being chosen  to have their art hang on the light poles around the Center and in North Manchester.  Other winners were chosen to have their art transformed into holiday e-cards.

Aaron Barker concert once again a hit!

Aaron Barker, Chris Wallin, Brooke Burrows, and Ira Dean performed an outstanding concert Friday night.  The 4 songwriters sang their top hits and told the stories behind the writing of each one.  After the show, they all hung around and met each and every fan.  This concert has become an annual favorite for country fans!
